Christina Rahm: Innovating Wellness Through Science and Compassion

In a world where innovation often falls prey to conventional barriers, the journey toward empowering transformative solutions can feel daunting, especially for women. With women holding only 10 % of patents in the U.S., many brilliant minds struggle to break through the glass ceiling of entrepreneurship and invention. However, there are those who refuse to be confined by limitations and instead carve out their paths.

Among these trailblazers is Christina Rahm, PhD, a visionary leader who has not only navigated the challenges of gender bias but has also emerged as a beacon of innovation. As the Founder of DRC Ventures, she has dedicated her career to addressing the core issues that hinder individuals’ well-being, whether they are physical, mental, emotional, or financial.

With a remarkable portfolio of patents under her belt, Dr. Rahm has turned her vision into reality, empowering people with access to life-changing products that pave the way for healthier futures. Her story is one of resilience and determination, proving that when barriers are met with creativity and conviction, true change is possible.

Let us learn more about her journey:

Pioneering Positive Change

The demand for innovative and sustainable solutions has never been more critical. Companies prioritizing research-driven products that benefit both people and the planet are paving the way for a brighter future. Among these companies are DRC Ventures and The ROOT Brands®, which Rahm cofounded with her husband, Clayton Thomas.

Both organizations are dedicated to creating products that provide tangible advantages to society while caring for the environment. Dr. Rahm, a seasoned entrepreneur with a passion for innovation, has founded multiple companies throughout her career. Currently, she serves as Chairman of the Board for both The ROOT Brands® and DRC Ventures, where she plays a vital role in formulating scientifically based health and wellness products. Each of these companies operates with distinct timing and vision.

The ROOT Brands® was launched in February 2020, amid the global pandemic, a time marked by fear and uncertainty. Recognizing an opportunity, the company sought to empower individuals in their pursuit of health and wellbeing.

Despite its relative youth, The ROOT Brands® has already made a significant impact, reached over 220,000 customers and continued to expand its global presence. Both DRC Ventures and The ROOT Brands® share a core philosophy centered on providing positive solutions for people, pets, and the planet. Their mission emphasizes the importance of rediscovering one’s inner self and nurturing physical, mental, and spiritual health.

Dr. Rahm understands that creating a ripple effect of positive change is not without challenges. By operating online with a custom-designed algorithmic ecosystem, the companies continue to embrace technological advancements while integrating principles of quantum physics into product creation.

Journey in Health Innovation and Leadership

Dr. Rahm embodies the spirit of entrepreneurship. With extensive experience in both the pharmaceutical and nutraceutical industries, Dr. Rahm has held positions at top companies such as Janssen, Johnson & Johnson, Biogen Idec/Biogen, UCB, Bristol Myers Squibb, and Alexion. As the Chief Science Officer of both DRC Ventures and The ROOT Brands®, she is instrumental in shaping the wellness industry and developing innovative products.

Dr. Rahm’s career has not been without its challenges, particularly as a woman in a male-dominated field. She began her professional journey as a grant researcher in the pharmaceutical industry before transitioning to various entrepreneurial roles, experiencing both successes and setbacks along the way.

The pharmaceutical sector has historically been male-dominated, and with the small number of patents being held by women in the U.S., Dr. Rahm’s numerous patents for scientific innovation stand out as significant achievements.

She acknowledges that gender-related barriers are prevalent but emphasizes the importance for women to consistently strive to be their best selves—brilliant, honest, and loyal. Dr. Rahm advocates for breaking through these barriers with fortitude, passion, and determination, reminding others that adopting a victim mentality is not necessarily good for empowerment.

Vision for Health, Sustainability, and Community

The ROOT Brands® and DRC Ventures prioritize sustainability and are currently distributing their products in over eighty-nine countries, reaching 220,000 customers. Over the past four years, they have experienced exponential growth, consistently launching new products every few months.

Both DRC Ventures and The ROOT Brands® provide lifechanging solutions focused on health, happiness, and longevity. Their philosophy centers on “getting to the ROOT” of issues by addressing toxins, pathogens, and imbalances in the body, followed by targeted nutrient integration.

DRC Ventures aims to empower individuals to reclaim their well-being, offering a range of products, including Ella Pure skincare, Rahm Roast ‘clean’ coffee, and Merci Dupre sustainable clothing with anti-toxin and antibacterial properties, which also addresses 5G concerns.

DRC Ventures oversees a broader portfolio, which includes Bill & Coo pet care products, Rahm Group purchasing, weight loss formulations, and even genetic testing opportunities. All products under Dr. Rahm’s vision adhere to principles of sustainability and environmental responsibility.

The company continues to integrate diverse subsidiaries while maintaining a cohesive message and fostering a sense of community. This vision with The ROOT Brands® involves leveraging and expanding innovations, such as a fintech social platform that rewards individuals for sharing products and contributing to brand growth.

Acknowledging challenges as opportunities for learning and evolution, the company’s commitment to empowering individuals on their collective journey toward well-being remains at the forefront of its mission. “Our goal has always been to help each person ‘Cure the Causes’ of issues in their lives, whether physical, mental, emotional, psychological, or financial.”

At the heart of both DRC Ventures and The ROOT Brands® is a core philosophy that aims to provide positive solutions for people, pets, and the planet. This mission includes rediscovering inner selves, nurturing minds, souls, and hearts, and caring for physical, mental, and spiritual health.

Their products encompass a wide array of disciplines, including detoxification, inflammation reduction, and neurotrophic herbs for focus and energy; collagen-based anti-aging formulas; immune support products; peptide-based skincare; and even a Rahm Effect app combining nutraceuticals with a 30-day wellness program.

Leading any company necessitates strategic thinking and a willingness to take well-considered risks while adapting to change. Dr. Rahm’s leadership approach involves crafting a vision that aligns with her values and long-term goals while actively engaging her team in the process. Additionally, she recognizes that women tend to be more organized, allowing them to effectively “run a tight ship” operationally and financially. As a visionary leader, Dr. Rahm can paint a vivid picture of a better future and effectively communicate that vision to her team.

Vision of DRC Ventures

The recent rollout of genetic testing marks a significant milestone for Dr. Rahm and her team at DRC Ventures, further enhancing their commitment to health and wellness. In decision-making, the executives embody a blend of visionary insight and pragmatic execution, crucial for managing multiple companies that ship products to over 80 countries. This hands-on approach ensures effective oversight and strategic alignment across their operations.

Creating a ripple effect of positive change in the world comes with its challenges. By operating online with a custom-designed algorithmic ecosystem, Dr. Rahm and her team continually align with technological advancements and leverage principles of quantum physics in product creation.

Integrating diverse subsidiaries and brands while maintaining a cohesive message and fostering a sense of community presents ongoing challenges. However, they navigate these obstacles by leveraging innovations like their fintech social platform, which rewards individuals for sharing products and contributing to the brand’s growth.

Ultimately, they view challenges as opportunities for learning and evolution, with their commitment to empowering individuals on a collective journey toward well-being remaining the cornerstone of their mission.

Dr. Rahm’s mission centers around promoting positive change through impactful initiatives. She and her team go beyond mere intentions, focusing on tangible actions that create cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable environments. DRC Ventures brings together twelve specialized ventures, each contributing a unique piece to the larger puzzle. By strategically aligning these diverse components, they create ripples of positive change that resonate throughout the world.

Pioneering Personalized Health Solutions and Family Connections

As a scientist, author, patent innovator, and humanitarian, Dr. Rahm has dedicated her career to developing a wide range of meticulously formulated products. She draws upon scientifically sound principles and incorporates top-quality ingredients, all backed by evidence-based research.

Keeping pace with trends in the health and wellness industry, her latest achievement, the creation of a genetic testing profile, is designed to provide insights into personalized approaches to nutrition and weight loss based on individual DNA.

Dr. Rahm’s vision includes expanding their reach into additional countries and offering solutions that benefit people, businesses, animals, and the environment. By providing access to their diverse range of products, Dr. Rahm aims to equip people with the tools they need to create their healthiest lives. The team is also focused on forging partnerships with key companies around the world in strategically selected countries, enabling them to assist as many individuals as possible through their growth plan.

While she acknowledges the challenge of achieving perfect work-life balance, Dr. Rahm strives for it by starting each morning with gratitude. She makes a conscious effort to connect with each of her four children daily and plans at least two significant family trips each year to reconnect and return to basics. These trips create invaluable moments of unity with her busy children, allowing them to enjoy each other’s company and strengthen their bonds while exploring the world together.

Facing GM crop restrictions, Mexican cotton farmers may import illegal biotech seeds

In 2020, the COVID-19 induced pandemic forced cotton production to plunge. Only one million bales were produced, which is 500 thousand less than previous years. Thirty-five percent of the area wasn’t sowed due to the lack of seeds, said Raúl Treviño, president of the cotton production system. In a videoconference, he explained that transgenic cotton seeds have a validity of 5 to 7 years, one hundred percent of the cultivation in Mexico is done with them, and they must be renewed because with new grains it can be raised by 37 percent from current production.

He warned that “desperate producers can import the seeds illegally, thereby eliminating the traceability of genetically modified organisms.” Since 1995 the country began to sow genetically modified seeds, which increased the yield since it went from three bales per hectare to seven. He added that now there are not enough seeds to plant the 250 thousand hectares dedicated to cotton cultivation in the country, and only Chihuahua produces one million bales. The international market for organic cotton products is small, but conventional seeds could begin to be sown to enter it.

Manuel Espinosa Maurer, president of the National Chamber of the Textile Industry, said that two out of three garments that are purchased in the country are illegal. He said that 50 percent of the country’s cotton comes from imports, more than 90 percent from the United States, and in the country, productivity must be increased. He explained that there are garments that enter with prices below their value.

Companies Reliant on Behavioral Technology Need New Workarounds

Digital advertising has evolved significantly, and companies have been utilizing behavioral technology and data to target and engage with their audiences more effectively. However, privacy concerns and changing regulations, such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in Europe and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) in the United States, have impacted how companies collect and use user data for advertising purposes.

Consent Management Platforms (CMPs):

Implementing CMPs allows companies to obtain explicit consent from users before collecting and using their data for advertising purposes. Users can then control their preferences and easily opt out of data tracking if they wish to do so.

Contextual Advertising:

Instead of relying heavily on individual user data, contextual advertising targets ads based on the context of the webpage or app content. This approach focuses on delivering relevant ads without the need for extensive user tracking.

First-Party Data Utilization:

Companies are placing a greater emphasis on collecting and using first-party data directly from their own website visitors or app users. First-party data is typically considered less risky from a privacy perspective and can still provide valuable insights for targeted advertising.

Advanced Analytics and AI:

Leveraging advanced analytics and AI technologies can help companies understand user behavior without compromising user privacy. By analyzing aggregated and anonymized data, companies can make data-driven decisions without identifying individual users.

Collaboration with Advertisers and Publishers:

Companies may collaborate with advertisers and publishers that already have established user consent mechanisms. This way, they can leverage the consent already obtained by these partners to extend their advertising efforts.

Transparency and Communication:

Being transparent with users about data collection and usage practices builds trust. Clearly communicating data policies and giving users control over their data can positively impact the user experience and encourage opt-in consent.

It’s important to note that the landscape of digital advertising and privacy regulations may have continued to evolve beyond my last update. For the most current information on digital advertising and its relationship with privacy and behavioral technology, I recommend consulting up-to-date news sources and industry publications.

They are even used in the packaging of drinking water bottles and the air we breathe in the form of microplastics.

While plastic may have multiple uses, increasing scientific evidence suggests that some plastic components may be harmful to the health of humans.

Phthalates are at top of the exceptionally harmful list, chemicals added to many plastics in order to make them flexible These chemicals have been part of many health concerns, including obesity, endocrine disruption, reproductive issues, and allergies.

Insulin is the most likely hormone that can get affected by phthalates. Insulin is a hormone that controls glucose levels in the blood and makes carbohydrate available to cells.

health study in adolescents says there are chances of insulin resistance with increased urinary phthalate levels, which is often a source to type 2 diabetes.

There were similar observations in another study done in older adults which showed that exposure to diethyl hexyl phthalates (DEHP), one particular group of phthalates, caused increased oxidative stress and insulin resistance.

Now, The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism longitudinal study has found that women with exposure to high levels of phthalates have increased risk of developing diabetes up to 63%.

Dr Ishita Prakash Patel, board-certified endocrinologist, at Texas Diabetes and Endocrinology, said, “The study subjects were chosen from a larger longitudinal study of midlife women to evaluate an association between phthalates in the urine and [the] development of diabetes. The study found an association between higher levels of certain phthalates and development of diabetes in white women, but not the other races studied — Black and Asian.”

Is the Future of Travel and Hospitality Data-driven?

In the fast-paced era of personalization set by tech giants like Netflix and Amazon, European travel and hospitality brands face increasing pressure to cater to their customers’ evolving demands. Achieving traveler satisfaction now hinges on delivering personalized experiences, from trip research to post-trip reviews. Despite the clear value of personalization, many European brands struggle with implementing data-driven strategies effectively.

Navigating the Data Maze: Challenges in Personalization

While travel and hospitality brands possess more customer data than ever before, managing this data presents a complex challenge. Brands must build their first-party data repositories to comply with privacy regulations and the waning relevance of third-party cookies. However, various hurdles impede their quest for data-driven personalization.

Challenges in Understanding Customer Data

  • Messy Booking Data: A wealth of data from online travel agencies, hotels, airlines, and car rental services poses difficulties in connecting and ownership. The result is a lack of personalization.
  • Fractured Identities: Customers share inconsistent identifiers across channels and devices, fragmenting their identities. Without a unified view, personalization falters.
  • Siloed Data: Personalization should span the entire customer journey, but siloed data and a lack of trust in data accuracy hinder seamless personalization at each touchpoint.
  • Legacy Tools: Data Management Platforms (DMPs) are losing effectiveness due to evolving privacy concerns and data regulations. Customer Data Platforms (CDPs) are emerging as the preferred solution in the new data landscape.

Urgent Need for Data Intelligence

In a rapidly evolving digital landscape, travel and hospitality brands require swift, powerful, and flexible Customer Data Platforms (CDPs). These CDPs must revolutionize the end-to-end data management process by focusing on:

By investing in robust data management systems, utilizing employee data, and prioritizing guest experience enhancement, European travel and hospitality brands can excel in personalization. Harnessing the power of personalization allows brands to create memorable travel experiences, driving success in an ever-evolving industry.

Four Data-Driven Strategies for Travel and Hospitality Brands

  • Reacting to Intent Signals: Travellers decide quickly, so brands must initiate targeted marketing as soon as they detect shopping intent.
  • Beyond Loyalty Programs: Brands must earn loyalty anew by combining loyalty program data with other sources and focusing on the customer rather than the program.
  • Personalization at Every Touchpoint: Extend customer data use beyond marketing to customize experiences throughout travelers’ journeys.
  • First-Party Data Collection: With privacy restrictions limiting third-party data use, brands must shift towards building their first-party data collection to better understand and serve their customers.

Through data-driven strategies and a commitment to enhancing guest experiences, brands can rise above current challenges. The goal is to create a future where every traveler feels understood, valued, and inspired by their journey, elevating the entire guest experience.

Three Easy Stretches to Prevent Back Pain

Back pain is a common issue that affects people of all ages and lifestyles. Whether due to poor posture, sedentary work environments, or strenuous physical activities, back pain can significantly impact our daily lives. However, simple stretches can help alleviate and even prevent back pain. Here are three easy stretches to keep your back pain-free:

Three Stretches to Prevent Back Pain and Build Strength

Incorporating these stretches into your routine can promote flexibility, strengthen your core, and improve overall spinal health.

Cat-Camel Stretch:

The cat-camel stretch is an excellent exercise to promote flexibility and mobility in the spine. To perform this stretch, start on all fours with your hands directly under your shoulders and knees under your hips. Begin by slowly arching your back upward, similar to a cat stretching. Hold this position for a few seconds, then slowly reverse the movement, lowering your belly towards the floor and lifting your head and tailbone upward, resembling a camel’s hump. Repeat this stretch for 10 to 15 repetitions, focusing on smooth, controlled movements.

Child’s Pose:

The child’s pose is a relaxing stretch that targets the lower back and promotes relaxation. Start kneeling on the floor, then slowly sit back on your heels, extending your arms forward as you lower your chest. Allow your forehead to rest on the floor or a cushion. Breathe deeply and hold this position for 30 seconds to a minute, feeling the gentle stretch in your lower back and hips. The child’s pose helps to release tension in the back muscles.

Supine Knee-to-Chest Stretch:

The supine knee-to-chest stretch is an effective way to stretch the lower back and hip muscles. Lie on a comfortable surface, such as a yoga mat or carpet. Slowly bring one knee towards your chest, using your hands to gently pull the knee closer until you feel a comfortable stretch in your lower back and buttocks. Hold this position for 20 to 30 seconds, then release and switch to the other leg. Repeat the time on both sides two to three times. The supine knee-to-chest stretch helps to release tension in the lower back and improve flexibility in the hip joints.

Tips To Prevent Further Back Pain

  • If something is too heavy or difficult to handle, ask someone to help you.
  • Place your feet apart to have a stable stance.
  • Stand as near as you can to the object you’re lifting.
  • Bend your knees, not your waist.
  • Engage your abdominal muscles while lifting or lowering the object.
  • Keep the object as close to your body as possible.
  • Use the strength of your legs to lift.
  • When standing up with the object, avoid leaning forward. Aim to keep your back straight.
  • Avoid twisting your body while bending to reach, lift, or carry the object.
